Words matter, especially at the end of life

Because the truth is—we never withdraw care

We might withdraw life support or medical interventions that are no longer helping, but real care—comfort, dignity, compassion—never goes away

In hospice and palliative care, we center the person, not just the treatment

Our job isn’t to “give up” on someone—it’s to care for them differently, to focus on quality of life, comfort, and what matters most to them and their loved ones

Language shapes how we feel about these moments. Using human-centered, compassionate words helps families understand that even when certain treatments stop, care continues

If we want to live—and die—with purpose, dignity, and clarity, it starts with the conversations we have now

Too often I see people at the end of life who tell

Too often I see people at the end of life who tell me they wish they had trusted themselves more

They stayed in jobs, relationships, or situations that didn’t serve them because they listened to external voices instead of their own

And so often, they regret not trusting themselves sooner

Your intuition is your inner wisdom. But just like any friendship, the more you tune in, the stronger it gets. The more you quiet the noise of expectations, fear, and self-doubt, the clearer everything becomes
