🚨After 2 years of procrastination, 9 months of pre 🚨After 2 years of procrastination, 9 months of preparation and 364 days of anticipation, my TEDx is finally here!!! 🚨

And it’s an editor’s pick as well!

As a hospice doctor, I started noticing that people would drastically transform their lives after a brush with death

A near death experience becomes the catalyst for a career change

The death of a loved one is the impetus to finally start that business or pursue the passion project

My talk is about how to reverse engineer those changes that dramatically transform our lives

Without the pain and suffering of losing a loved one or nearly dying yourself

I put everything I had into this talk and I hope it resonates with you

Please share it with as many people you care about as possible because no one should have to face death in order to learn these lessons

Unfortunately my automations aren’t working because of a bug with meta so either click the link in my bio or search “3 questions to ask yourself before you die TEDx” on YouTube

Thank you to @tedxjacksonville for having faith in me and my message and @mrcesarcervantes for coaching me along the way 🙏

I say this all the time: it’s not you, it’s your b I say this all the time: it’s not you, it’s your brain

I didn’t even learn any of this until my mid 30s and certainly not in med school

If our brains and nervous systems can learn to feel anxiety, fear and negativity

That means it’s possible to rewire it to practice feeling empowered, confident and peaceful

Knowing that this is happening is the first step

The more often you can catch yourself slipping into these old disempowering narratives

The faster you can redirect your brain towards something you DO want to think and feel

If you’re intentional and consistent with this, you’ll eventually break those old patterns and rewrite your own programming

Like anything worth doing, it takes intention, energy and time. But it’s totally possible and easier/faster than you think when done right
I’m starting a new series on this account—somethin I’m starting a new series on this account—something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time

It’s about death, dying, and the different ways culture shapes how we make sense of it all

Because while death is universal, the way we grieve, honor, and remember our loved ones is deeply personal and often cultural

This video was filmed at a Día de los Muertos celebration, where I had the honor of speaking with Mary, who shared what this tradition means to her

It’s about memory, family, and keeping the spirit of loved ones alive through stories, altars, and celebration

And it’s a powerful example of how culture can support us through grief, healing, and connection

There are so many ways to talk about death

My hope with this series is to explore the ones that often go unspoken

PS I’m still working on a title for this new series, lmk if you have any ideas!
